Bernay - Neufchatel-en-Bray

Sunday 10 August  Not a lot to show for today really - too hot to do too much after our journey north from Montoire-sur-Loir to Bernay.  Our cool pitch a Montoire ....    .... to our coffee stop in a small village en route     ... but what's interesting about this picture is that when zoomed in ..... you may be able to spot our little green stool outside our van door.  This is very useful to people with short legs and even more useful to people who are operating with only one arm ....    .... but when we reached our destination later in the day - at Bernay - we realised that our little green stool must still be in that park!! Oh well, maybe someone else with little legs will take care of it! And so we came to another Camping-Car Park, at Bernay.  It has only recently opened, but probably they shouldn't have done it so soon because there was no electricity and water only to a couple of the taps.  We had chosen our pitch by...

Chateau-Renault - Montoire-sur-Loir

Friday8 August  Another very hot day, so went for a short walk in the morning to a little chapel before leaving Amboise.  Unfortunately, couldn't find the geo there, but a pretty spot.    We travelled the short way to Chateau-Renault then just chilled out for the whole of the afternoon!  Tilman and Barbara had got there earlier than us and had sussed out a restaurant for us to eat at this evening.   Great food - poached egg on mushrooms and truffle for me, pea and cheese tart for John. Chicken with corn and ??  for John - said it was very tasty,  and veal with thinly sliced vegetables piled up and cut as a slice for me.     Saturday 9 August  We were up with the alarm at 6.50 this morning to say goodbye to Tilman and Barbara as they left us at 7.00 to take their van back to Paris and then spend the weekend with Adrian and Sophie.  We had an early walk up to the ruined chateau while it wasn't too hot.  This is th...

Amboise - Chaeau-Renault

Wednesday 6 August cont.  A wonderful burger meal(!) with Adrian and Sophie arrived from their home in Paris.  Pictures of them tomorrow.     Yes a Burger Restaurant, but this is not McDonalds!  Brioche crispy buns with layers of chicken and salads.    Pudding was quite amazing too - but I did share these profiteroles (one forme) with Tilman!  No sling on arm for eating, but it does look a bit swollen.   Tilman's drink in a wonky glass! Thursday 7 August   Being proper tourists in Amboise, despite 32deg heat.  First stop was to a pharmacy for a different sort of sling that hopefully won't give me so much neck and shoulder pain. Our first visit was to the Chateau de Clos Luce - the home of Leonardo da Vinci for his last 3 years of life.  Really interesting with lots of information and models of his inventions and ideas for the future, many of which were very fanciful.              S...
