Amboise-sur-Loire

 Tuesday 5 August

Today we travelled further along the Loire to Amboise.  A beautiful, but very busy town.  The campsite is full but we have two large pitches under trees, so very happy.  We spent the afternoon looking around the town and finding a hidden-away restaurant for tomorrow evening - found and booked.  The chateau from our golden island in the river - Ile d'Or - and a close-up view.

Early evening we watched 2 balloons launched from the other side of the hedge.

this one went up over us!
Barbara made our starter this evening - Banana Soup!  It was curried and tasted wonderful.  Just seemed strange ingredients to us - including 4 ripe bananas!  We also shared the champagne that we should have had last night!

Wednesday 6 August

Before we move on to today, here are some historic ones that you are very anxious to see, I know!

First a selfie back at the Briare Canal - before accident (BA)

Having been bound up by my lovely fire man/ladies.

Leaving the hospital.

How I have to spend the next 10 days!

But unfortunately yesterday I was finding that the pull on my neck from the sling was becoming quite painful and today the pain has spread into my right shoulder so I'm having difficulty lifting that arm!  Trying a different technique when we go out this evening - wearing John's bum bag round my waist and resting my (bad) arm on that.

Today Barbara and Tilman went to visit the Chateau at Chambord.  We have been there before and felt that climbing stone staircases wasn't going to be the best for me today.  So we took a leisurely walk into town through back streets and paths, found 3 geocaches and had super hot chocolates from a very friendly chocolatier.  We also bought a bar of 70% and he came out of the shop after us to give us 2 free samples as well.

Sitting on a seat donated  by the local Lions Club.
The little train doing the town.

This evening our friends' son Adrian and his wife Sophie will be coming by train to stay the night in a hotel, having tomorrow with us, and going back to their home in Paris in the evening.  Next phots will be of our meal with them in town.
