Home - Canterbury - Dover - Calais - Arleux

 Sunday 20 July

After a busy day, we arrived in Canterbury around 5pm and within half a hour we were picked up by Barry and Ann to take us to their home in Bridge for lots of chat and a lovely dinner.  Thank you both for a super evening + the lifts to and fro.

Monday 21 July

Rather a lot of rain in the night with lots of puddles in the carpark!  After breakfast John went off on foot to the machine to pay the £8 for the night and was prevented from getting out of the motorhome area by a flooded road.  So driving through it was the answer ....

As there are 3 ferry companies serving Dover-Calais, we went for the one we'd never tried before (all their prices are the same of course) - Irish Ferries.  The ferry itself was fine, but their check-in wasn't - after a wait in the queue for half an hour, the 'schoolboy' on the desk told us that the computer was being very slow today.  We'd arrived at the port an hour before departure time, but once we eventually reached the line for boarding, it was a case of being waved straight on.
Anyway, apart from the lounge being occupied by some very loud adults and screeching children, all was well for the journey.

Driving to our first stop at Arleux was rather wet, with quite torrential rain at times, but we arrived at the Camping-Car Park in the dry and we've had a very sunny evening, with a walk by the Canal de Sensee.

No drinks tonight at the canal-side pub!
