Getting to know Molsheim
Saturday 26 July
A lovely morning to explore our environs - a walk into the town to admire the Alsacian 'marzipan' houses and soak up the atmosphere. As we turned a corner towards the main square, we thought the music was a little out of place, then all was revealed - a huge Zumba session was going on!
The leader was pretty livelybut so were all the participants! Was fun to watch for a while, and we were pretty hot watching, but avoided walking too close to them when they disbanded.....
Really good to see the town in sunshine. We returned to our pitch to sit under a tree in the cool to eat our lunch, then oh oh, a couple of large wet blobs landed on us... That didn't last, so we next wanted to walk by the river to a group of small lakes even though the clouds were rolling in.
I suppose we are having to get used to rather changeable weather (it was more settled than this on the Ile de Re at Easter) because a little while after we'd gone in the local Super U on our way back, than the heavens opened again. Fortunately there is a cafe in there where we could drink a cuppa and watch the people dashing to and from their cars in the carpark.
There seemed to be a lull after a while, so on went the cagools again for the very short way back to the site. But that lull wasn't quite long enough ... another soaking, but hoping our trainers aren't quite as wet as the other day.
Peter and Hannah left Kent very early this morning and spent the day travelling here - rather a lot quicker than us!! They arrived around 4.30 when it was still pouring, got themselves settled into their mobilhome while we prepared dinner. Really good to be spending a few days with them here.
Yes it's still raining while cooking under the awning, but we came inside to eat.
A quick visit to their little home for the week.
